Snowshoe hike to Waldraster Jöchl in Stubaital

We meet at 09:45 in the ticket area of the Serlesbahn valley station in Mieders. From here, we take the cable car to the mountain station and enjoy our first magnificent panoramic view. Beneath the mighty Serles, we soon reach Serleskapelle and enter snow-covered winter forest. Shortly afterwards, we pass Ochsenhütte and briefly follow the ski piste. We then leave the busy ski area behind and climb through quiet, snowy mountain forest. The landscape becomes increasingly alpine until we reach our summit at Waldraster Jöchl.

After a well-earned break, we descend eastwards towards Gleinser Mähder, enjoying ever-changing perspectives of the surrounding mountains. Depending on snow conditions and the group’s wishes, we can return to our starting point along the northern route with exceptional views over the Inntal and Kalkkögel, or continue to the renowned monastery and pilgrimage site of Maria Waldrast before returning to the mountain station.
