Sunrise over Innsbruck

This sunrise on my local mountain, Nockspitze, was one of the most impressive I have witnessed. The rising sun announces the new day with a colourful display, while the next weather front is already moving across the Inntal, lending the morning a dramatic mood.

Sunset from Nockspitze

This sunset captivates with its striking colour gradient and was photographed from my local mountain, Nockspitze. The sun disappears behind the Mieminger Bergkette, with Zugspitze—Germany’s highest mountain—visible a little farther to the right. Windswept clouds add movement and a distinctive character to the scene.

50 Shades of Blue

Mountain range follows mountain range as far as the eye can see. After a bivouac night in the Sellrainer Berge, the first rays of sunlight illuminate the morning haze and clearly reveal the contours and silhouettes of the individual peaks. Just below and to the right of centre, Nockspitze can be seen, with Patscherkofel and its transmitter directly behind it, looking surprisingly modest from this perspective.

In Geier-Wally’s Footsteps

This photograph of the old Geier-Wally-Hütte near the Hafelekar mountain station was taken before the hut was renovated. The mist creates a very special atmosphere—high in contrast and rustic, inviting and forbidding at the same time.

View into the Karwendel

Countless peaks line up in this view into the Karwendel, appearing in many shades of blue through the morning mist. Just right of centre, Birkkarspitze—the highest point in the Karwendel—rises into the sky. In the right foreground, Roßkogel looks small and unobtrusive, although from the Inntal it appears so proud and prominent.

Sea of Peaks in the Evening Light

A view from a bivouac site across countless mountain peaks as the final rays of sunlight colour the sky. Summer storm clouds give the image remarkable depth, atmosphere and a sense of vastness.

Inntal Awakens

Night still lies in the valley while a new morning announces itself behind the mountains. Soft pastel colours usher in the new day and drive the darkness from the Inntal. The last lights still trace the villages and roads before everyday life awakens in the valley.

Nordkette

This natural black-and-white image was already virtually colourless when it was taken. Bright fresh snow contrasts strongly with the dark rocks and trees, while the clouds create a multitude of grey tones in between. Karrinne can be seen on the far right and the summit cross of Kemacher on the far left. The photograph was taken in Axamer Lizum on a cloudy winter day.

Bettelwurf in the Last Evening Light

Bettelwurf is a familiar sight for anyone from Innsbruck. Yet this striking peak is only very rarely seen in such a display of colour, surrounded by windswept clouds. With its final strength, the setting sun illuminates the mountain’s flanks and bids farewell in an extraordinary blaze of colour.
